What Is Mercedes-Benz DISTRONIC PLUS®?

Mercedes-Benz DISTRONIC PLUS® is an active cruise control system, designed to maintain an even distance between your own vehicle and the vehicles ahead of you in traffic. The system operates by using radar to send a signal to your vehicle’s onboard computer, speeding you up or slowing you down in order to maintain your desired follow-distance on the highways near Centerville and Ashburn. Compared to standard cruise control, DISTRONIC PLUS® provides a smoother, more satisfying drive.

How Do I Use DISTRONIC PLUS®?

Have you recently purchased a new vehicle with Mercedes-Benz DISTRONIC PLUS®? Here’s what you need to know to start enjoying the feature today:

• You can locate the controls for the DISTRONIC PLUS® system on a lever attached to your steering column.
• Adjust the lever in order to alter your cruising speed. Move it up to go faster, or tilt it down in order to move more slowly.
• Each light press of the lever alters your speed by one mile per hour. Press is more forcefully to jump by five miles per hour, in either direction.
• Much like a standard cruise control system, you can disable DISTRONIC PLUS® by pressing the brakes. Pushing the control lever away from your body will also turn the system off.
• Of course, you can resume your last set speed by pulling the control lever towards your body.
• Use the knob at the end of the control lever in order to adjust your desired follow-distance. The current setting is displayed on your main screen.
• DISTRONIC PLUS® will slow you down automatically if traffic starts to get in the way. It can even bring you to a complete stop as required.
• If you come to a stop for less than three seconds, the system will automatically pick up speed as soon as the way has cleared.
• If the stop lasts for longer than three seconds, you’ll need to pull the control level towards your body or use the gas pedal to resume your last set speed.

DISTRONIC PLUS® has been designed for use on the highway, and you should avoid the feature when you’re deep in South Riding or Leesburg traffic.
