Drivers near South Riding and Centerville have every reason to consider the 2020 Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the 2020 Audi A6. However, despite the fact that they start in a similar price range, there’s a world of difference between these two popular luxury cars. If you’re ready to make a decision, performance specs and technology features could be the deciding factors. Here’s what you should keep in mind while comparing the Mercedes-Benz E-Class vs. Audi A6 with Mercedes-Benz of Chantilly:

  • Comparing base trims or range-topping models, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class offers more power. It’s also significantly lighter and more aerodynamic, so you can count on superior performance.
  • While the Audi A6 offers a wide range of luxury features, the E-Class has no trouble going head-to-head. Many of its standard convenience features cost extra on the already more expensive A6.

E-Class vs. A6: Performance and Specs

  • Base Engines: While both models come with a 2.0L Inline-4 and offer the same amount of starting torque (273 lb-ft), the E-Class delivers more power with 255 hp. A comparable A6 only offers 248 hp.
  • Engine Upgrades: If you’re pursuing upgrades, you can equip the E-Class with a 3.0L biturbo® V6. The A-Class is available with a 3.0-liter TFSI® V6, but once again, the AMG® E-Class is much more powerful. With 362 hp, it breezes past the 335-hp A6.
  • Transmissions: The E-Class comes with a 9G-TRONIC® 9-Speed Automatic Transmission with paddle shifters. The A6 only offers a 7-speed automatic transmission as standard.
  • Specs: The E-Class has a curb weight of 3,792 lbs. In the base trim. That gives it a 300-pound advantage over the A6, which weighs 4,101 lbs. in its base configuration. What’s more, the A6 has a drag coefficient of 0.29, compared to 0.27 for the E-Class.

E-Class vs. A6: Features and Technology

  • Standard Features: Whether you’re loading up groceries or unpacking the car after a long vacation, you’ll appreciate that every E-Class comes standard with a hands-free proximity-open trunk. You’ll need to buy the feature as an upgrade in the A6.
  • Infotainment: Both the A6 and the E-Class come with 12.3-inch digital instrument clusters or virtual cockpits. For entertainment and interior features, you’ll have COMAND® in the Mercedes-Benz, or MMI® in the Audi. Only the E-Class maximizes functionality and minimizes distractions by adding a seamlessly-integrated touchpad controller.
  • Safety: The Mercedes-Benz E-Class comes standard with Blind Spot Assist, which detects moving vehicles in your immediate periphery, and even moves you out of the way. In order to get a similar feature on the A6, you’ll need to pay for expensive upgrades.
