About Mercedes-Benz PRESAFE®

The Mercedes-Benz PRESAFE® system senses imminent collisions and prepares your vehicle in the moments before impact. When sensors determine that certain conditions indicate an accident, Mercedes-Benz PRESAFE® does the following:

• Tightens the front seat belts
• Adjusts the front head restraints and passenger seat
• Closes the window and sunroof

All of this is in an effort to prepare passengers for more effective results from the restraint systems.

Mercedes-Benz PRESAFE® Sound

Another major feature incorporated in Mercedes-Benz PRESAFE® is PRESAFE® Sound. Available in newer Mercedes-Benz models, this system emits pink noise that is safe for your ears and also protects them from the pressures and loud sounds of a collision.

Mercedes-Benz PRESAFE® IMPULSE SIDE

There is also the Mercedes-Benz PRESAFE® Impulse Side, a function that takes action if a side collision is imminent. The system moves the passenger on the side of the potential collision as far away from the danger zone as possible before impact occurs. That means the passenger is moved from the door toward the center of the vehicle with air chambers in the side bolsters of the backrest to reduce the risk of injury.
